Hey friend, thought you might enjoy this. I was on my way to the event last Sunday, happened to look over my left shoulder, and noticed a mass of yellow-orange. I wasn’t completely certain what I’d seen so I went back to have another look. A hillside garden in full bloom. Amazing. This is only a small part of the full view, but the mass of rudbeckia was what caught my eye. Sometimes called ‘black-eyed susan’, it’s always been one of my favourite flowers. This is certainly the largest patch of it I’ve ever seen. A lot of love in that garden, y’know? Nice to share it with people too. And so a postcard. Hope you enjoy it.
I think this is the first time I’ve actually tried to get a picture of the northern lights. This isn’t as dramatic as some pictures I’ve seen, but I think it gives a sense of things somehow–a peaceful lake and a cool summer evening.

Hey friend, how’s you’re day? I hope the day’s had a bit of useful in it for you. And I hope you’ve taken a bit of time for yourself as well. Funny how we sometimes have trouble doing that, you and I, eh? I suppose my day’s had some useful, although maybe not as much as I’d like. I did manage to pause and walk around the backyard a bit. Funny, I’d been thinking that the flowers had begun to be past their bloom. Then I saw this. No, not done yet. Good to be reminded.
Most of what comes up in the garden I recognize. This is not one of those. I’ll let you know.

“Cryptic, yet oddly informative…”

The display is absolutely beautiful. Not too much longer before they’re gone, but while they last they’re just gorgeous. I didn’t see any of these last year, and now they’re everywhere in the garden. Glad I managed to get out and get a few pictures.
These were blooming over in the corner, on the other side of the sweet peas, about as high as the honeysuckle. I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed. Happily they look like they’ll be here for a little while yet. I once asked someone how they would know what they had forgotten if they didn’t remember. They assured me they would. I wasn’t so sure. In the same way, I found myself looking at these and wondering what I’ve missed that I don’t even know.

Well I did get out finally, and I did see something. Nice-ish garden, dotted with sculptures. Several trunks and cases, like the ones many people used when coming here. My folks too. Turned a corner and there was this. It too is stone. Apparently it too is art. Okay, so not just history. Apparently there are parts of my life that have turned to art as well.
Yeah, I’m really not sure how I feel about all of this.

This is a little weird, although I’m sure it’s happened to other people before. I’m not sure I can explain it, but I’ll try. So remember the other day I was explaining how it seems I don’t allow myself to get out much? The other day I did finally manage to spend a few minutes wandering around a sculpture installation downtown. Took a couple of pictures, might show ‘em to you sometime. But the thing that caught my attention wasn’t the sculptures.
The clock tower is a piece of local history. There’s a picture of it nearby, that’s it on the right. Looks pretty historic, right? But here’s the thing–I remember that building quite clearly. Apparently I am old enough to remember history. And somehow I find that just a little bit disturbing.
I thought you might be amused to see this. The musical in mid-rehearsal, from my point of view.
