“So I begin to understand that some things are for the mind to handle. Others are for the heart.
And it’s important to know which is which.”
And so a retreat of sorts, remembering what is important to me.
Nowhere near the shape of summer I had hoped for, a lesson in expectations.
I suppose that’s the downside of being able to envision, something so beautiful it’s hard not to hope.
But I will hope.
Still do.
And finally I was reminded
that there is beauty
long after the sun has set.
Slowly I became aware of the sky.

Stepping away for a moment, I turned and saw this.
I love this small flower for its tiny perfect beauty
and for where it chose to grow
From doing what was needed for others
now a time to walk with my own sense of life
but a moment before moving on
to be still…
thanks for what has brought me here
thanks for what is here
may it be honoured
in doing
and in being
And so it’s been a time
of saying goodbye
to people, to places
seldom by choice, these goodbyes
but that’s part of what life is made of
so…
…being able to say goodbye
well.
Last night’s sky reminded me of another picture, taken a lifetime ago. For various reasons this is what I call a farmer’s sky.
And so we’re into one of the warmest springs in memory.
Red sky at night…
