Ah, blame. It becomes so important to some people. Especially angry people. ‘Who’s responsible?’ becomes their life goal. And of course, like anything, it can get totally out of whack. Experts maintain that humour is useful for putting our thoughts into a healthy perspective. That’s a thing I originally learned from my family, my dad in particular. It seems that humour not only adjusts how we think about things in general, it also can re-focus a specific issue. And apparently if there’s a nagging negative, even the simple act of giving it a humorous label can go a long way to making it easier to deal with.
While I sometimes will go the label route, my own style is to invent a cartoon character’s voice, and then give that voice a line that somehow sums things up. Which brings me back to blame. Something goes wrong, and someone has a burning need to find someone to blame. Out comes the voice of the regimental sergeant-major who thunders his line in rising indignation.
“Blame’s important y’know! ‘Ow d’y'know ‘ow t’proceed if y’don’t know ‘oo t’blame?”
Kinda puts it in perspective, don’t it?
